How We Built an AEO + SEO Website for a CT Car Service Shop
When a European performance car owner needs service, where do they look? Increasingly, the answer is not Google alone—it is ChatGPT, Gemini, and other AI answer engines. So when we set out to build a new website for a Connecticut specialty auto shop, we designed it to be found and recommended by both.
In this post, our designer Kevin walks through a real project: the service website for M Sport Motorwerx, a European performance car shop in Prospect, CT. It is a practical look at how Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and traditional SEO actually shape the way we design and build sites for service businesses.
You will see the strategy behind the structure, the technical choices that help AI cite a site, the dynamic-page system we used to solve a tricky inventory problem, and the result when we tested it in AI search.
1. The Project: A Service Site That Could Compete With the Dealer
M Sport Motorwerx already had a sales website, but their service side was underdeveloped and was not positioning them for the clients they wanted. The goal was to build a high-end, technical service site that communicated one clear message: you can get dealer-level service without paying the dealer premium.
"They're using the same tools, the same technicians in some cases, the same techniques," Kevin explained. "So you're getting the same quality service for your performance car, without paying that premium." Every section of the site reinforced that idea—the same diagnostic tools as the dealership, acceptance of third-party warranties, and customer reviews to establish credibility.
2. Why Service Businesses Have an AEO Advantage
One of the most useful insights from the project was about intent. Service-related searches are far better suited to AI answer engines than high-ticket sales searches.
Service questions are what people actually ask AI
"How many people are going to ChatGPT to ask where can I buy this Porsche? It's a lot less than someone saying, where can I fix my Porsche around here, or my BMW," Kevin noted. That distinction matters. If your business answers a question people genuinely type into AI tools, you have a real AEO opportunity—and most local service businesses do.
3. How We Structured the Site for Answer Engines
Getting cited by AI is not luck. It comes from structuring content so answer engines can read and pull from it cleanly. We covered the broader method in our guide on how to structure website content for Google and AI search , and this project used the same fundamentals.
FAQ schema and question-based content
FAQs are one of the first techniques we use to gain AEO traction—but only if the schema is turned on. We added FAQ schema so the questions and answers are machine-readable, then wrote them around what real customers ask:
- Do you use the same diagnostic tools as the dealership?
- Do you accept third-party warranties?
Anticipating those questions gives an answer engine something direct to quote.
Keyword-rich headings
Including the right keywords in H1, H2, and H3 headings helps every kind of visibility—SEO and AEO alike. For this build that meant putting terms like "Porsche," "BMW," and "European performance" directly into strategic headlines rather than burying them in body text.
Descriptive image alt text
We also loaded up the alt text on every image so bots have something to read. Instead of "a white car in a garage," we wrote descriptions like: "a Porsche 911 Targa parked in a service bay at M Sport Motorwerx in Prospect, Connecticut." That gives the model real context to dig into when it reads the page.
4. Solving the Revolving Inventory Problem With Dynamic Pages
The biggest challenge came after launch. The client wanted to feature a few cars for sale on the service site to cast a wider net—but inventory turns over constantly. Cars come in, sell, and get replaced. Building and deleting pages by hand would have been a time sink.
The solution was an internal collection paired with a single dynamic page template. We designed one page properly, and every car follows that same layout automatically. Using Claude, we pulled details from the client's comprehensive sales page and the words from their walkaround videos into a clean, mini sales page that lives on the service site. This is the same approach we describe in turning business data into searchable web pages.
Maintenance is simple: when a car sells, we change its status in the collection from "for sale" to "sold" and swap in a graphic with a "SOLD" overlay. We leave sold cars up on purpose, so visitors can see fresh inventory is always moving through the door.
5. The Design Details That Made It Feel Premium
A premium service deserves a premium feel. As you scroll, sections fade in softly and backgrounds hold steady behind the content with subtle parallax. "It's a small detail, but it does give it an element of design," Kevin said. "When you couple that with these effects, it feels a little more fluid." Those reveals carry over to mobile too, so the experience stays polished on every screen.
6. Balancing Traditional SEO With AEO
The two disciplines feed each other. "A lot of the same things that make for good SEO are going to be good for AEO. There is crossover," Kevin explained. We take a holistic approach—proper headlines, keyword-aware text, clean navigation, and good UI for SEO—then layer on the AEO-specific work of anticipating questions and building out FAQs. If you want the distinctions spelled out, see our breakdown of AI SEO, AEO, and GEO.
7. The Result: First in AI Search
The simplest test is to ask the question a customer would. When we asked ChatGPT, "Where can I get my Porsche 911 serviced in Connecticut, near Prospect?" the new service website came up first—ahead of the older sales site. That is AEO working exactly as intended: the right page, surfaced for the right question.
8. The Biggest Lesson: Video Plus AI Equals Content That Works for You
The standout takeaway was a workflow Kevin had never used before this project. You can use AI to pull the content out of a video, turn it into real, optimized copy, and have it populate a dynamic page automatically once the template is built.
"All we had to do as humans was set up that one template page, get it nice and tight, and then you're basically done," he said. After building a reusable skill in Claude, the team only had to create one page by hand—the next two were essentially automated. The video was already going to be made, so this simply extracts more value from an asset the business already owns. We use the same idea to turn YouTube videos into web pages that rank in AI search.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?
SEO focuses on ranking in traditional search results, while AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) focuses on getting your business cited in AI-generated answers from tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. The two overlap heavily, but AEO adds extra emphasis on FAQ schema, question-based content, and clearly structured answers.
Why do service businesses do well with AEO?
People frequently ask AI tools service-style questions like "where can I get my car fixed near me," but rarely ask AI to make a major purchase. If your business answers a common question, you have a strong AEO opportunity.
How do you get a website cited by AI?
Use clean, machine-readable structure: enable FAQ schema, write content around real customer questions, put keywords in your headings, and add descriptive alt text to images so bots understand each page.
What are dynamic pages and why use them?
Dynamic pages let you build one template and populate many pages from a data collection. They are ideal for content that changes often—like inventory—because you maintain the data, not dozens of individual pages.
